The purpose of the keto diet is to put your body in ketosis as the result of a low-carb, high-fat, medium protein combination. Ketosis results in fat being burned for energy as opposed to carbs or sugar. To put the body into Ketosis, you therefore need to restrict carbs and sugar in your diet. This causes your body to burn stored fat for energy.

A ketogenic diet allows you to lose weight and can help manage health conditions. By ensuring that you limit your carbohydrate intake to less than 50g per day you can put your body into Ketosis and burn stored fat. This helps you drop the pounds and shrink your waistline.

Carbohydrates give our bodies a quick and easy source of energy but, for some people, overconsumption can lead to expanding waistlines and ill health.

Prior to embarking on a ketogenic diet we would recommend that you visit your GP or specialist for advice. You may want to revisit them occasionally to ensure that your ketogenic diet is still the best option for you.
